You've got it. Now set it up.

Three steps to your first session with the Herding Ball + Bungee Tug Toy Set. It takes about five minutes, and you only need what came in the box.

Set up in three steps

  1. 1

    Inflate the inner ball

Use the included air pump. Under-inflate slightly for the first few sessions, since a softer ball is easier for your dog to control and steer.

  2. 2

Insert it into the cover and zip securely

Slide the inflated ball into the 1680D Oxford cover. Close the YKK zipper fully, then the waterproof zipper over it. Check the bite handle is on the outside.

  3. 3

Herd it freely, or attach it for controlled play

On open ground, let your dog push and chase it loose. To keep it within reach, clip it to the bungee. Both modes are below.

Two ways to play

The same names are printed on the box. Each one has a full game written for it.

Free Mode

The ball runs loose and your dog pushes it across open ground. Start with this mode, because it is where the herding instinct switches on.

Play Free Herd

Attached Mode

Clip the bungee to a branch or anchor with the tree strap and carabiner, then clip the ball on. It swings, rebounds and never rolls out of reach.

Play Tether Chase

Three rules that never change

  • The ball is for herding, pushing and chasing, and never for biting. Let the two cotton ropes take the chewing.
  • Always supervise use. Stay present for the whole session.
  • Never leave the bungee rigged. Unclip the rope and take it down when you finish.

Check your box

Nine items. If anything is missing, get in touch and we will sort it out.

  • 1x 18" Herding Ball (cover + inner inflatable ball)
  • 1x Bungee Rope (adjustable 170-300 cm)
  • 1x Flat Safety Rope (250 cm x 2.5 cm)
  • 1x Carabiner Clip
  • 2x Cotton Chew Ropes
  • 4x Repair Patches (3 small + 1 large)
  • 2x Valve Caps (1 spare)
  • 1x Pin Puller
  • 1x Air Pump

Care and quick fixes

Losing air
Check the valve cap is seated first (a spare is included). For a puncture, use one of the four repair patches (three small, one large) on a clean, dry surface.
Pump needle stuck
Use the included pin puller rather than pulling the needle by hand.
After a muddy session
Unzip the cover, rinse it and let it dry fully before storing. Inspect the cotton ropes for fraying and retire a rope once the core shows through.
